Mrs. Evelyn Gabel, age 83, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital in Orange City.

There will be a graveside service in mid August at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Evelyn Alice was born on January 27, 1929, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Dwight and Evelyn (Willis) Bewley. She was raised in Los Angeles, where she attended the Lincoln High School and graduated from the Los Angeles City College with an associates’ degree. She then worked as a clerk in the Los Angeles City Hall.

On January 16, 1960, she married Louis Gable in Los Angeles. They made their home in Los Angeles, where she was a homemaker. "Lou" passed away on October 4, 1994, in Glendale.
Evelyn continued to live in Los Angeles until September of 2010, when she moved to Orange City, where she became a resident of the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.

She enjoyed reading, caring for her cats, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Daryl Gabel, of Los Angeles; and Brad Gabel, and his wife, Kathy, of Orange City; two grandchildren, Heather and Jacob Gobel, of Orange City; a brother and his wife, William and Darlene Bewley, of Madern, California; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Miller, of Hacienda Heights, California.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Lola Bewley; and in-laws, Bill Miller, Ernest and Una Gable, and Marty and Lillian Hill.
