Funeral for Mrs. John Lindberg

Funeral services for Mrs. John Lindberg, who passed away Sunday, December 31st, were held at the Big Springs church at 1:30 last Wednesday afternoon, following a brief service held at the home, two miles south of the church, with Rev. R. A. Dahlquist in charge. The choir sang two numbers and Rev. Dahlquist sang a request number in Swedish. Burial was in the Big Springs cemetery.

Christine Larson was born in Hudikskvall, Gulliborgs, Lan, Sweden, on February 28, 1868, and passed away at her home south of Big Springs on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 31, 1939. At her death she was 71 years, 10 months and 3 days of age. She had lived across the road in Sioux Valley township all of these years until her health began to fail two years ago, since which time she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Adolph Weberg in Big Springs township, where she has been lovingly watched over and cared for efficiently during her invalidism.

She came from Sweden alone in June, 1893, to this Big Springs vicinity and worked at different homes, also working some in Akron, Hawarden and Sioux Falls. On February 12, 1896, she was united in marriage to John Lindberg, the ceremony taking place in Akron, and was performed by Rev. John Siline of Big Springs. To this union were born two children, Esther and Joy Emmaunel[Emmanuel?]. The latter, her only son, preceded her in death in the year 1916.

After their marriage they lived on the farm, just over the line from Big Springs in Sioux Valley township, up until about two years ago when her health began to fail, when she began spending most of the time at her daughter's home. She was converted while living in Sweden in 1882, and was baptized February 3, 1885, by Rev. Andrew Swartz. She was a faithful member of the Big Springs church and has cheerfully done what was required of her.

She was of a pleasing and congenial personality, with a friendly way, and was respected and loved by her neighbors and all who knew her.

Through these past two years of failing health she was cheerful and hoped to again regain her usual health, but these past few weeks she knew she would not recover and wished to go and be at rest. She leaves to mourn, her beloved husband and companion for these many years, John Lingberg, and daughter, Esther Weberg, and her son-in-law, Adolph Weberg. She has a sister-in-law and two nieces living in Skohagen, Maine, a nephew in Kansas and three nieces in Sweden. Other near relatives have preceded her in death. A host of friends and neighbors mourn her passing.
