Gertrude Van Dokkumburg, 74, of Rock Valley, died Monday [August 16] at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services were Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. John Spaans officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Van Dokkumburg, the former Gertrude Bakker, was born September 1, 1907, in The Netherlands. She came to America when she was six months old. She married Bert Koenen on Dec. 12, 1930, in Rock Valley. He died in March 1944. She married John Van Dokkumburg on March 18, 1946, in Luverne, Minn. He died March 11, 1977.

Survivors include a son, Gerrit Koenan of Hawarden; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Jennie) Hanzen of Inwood, Mrs. Sidney (Marie) Grossenburg of Rock Valley, Mrs. Ness (Albertha) Schenk of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Ron (Edith) Troff of Hull; a brother, Joe Bakker of Valley Springs, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Art (Maggie) Vander Pol of Hull; and 16 grandchildren.
