Gerdena Van Maanen, 76, of Hull died Friday, May 18, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at Protestant Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Steven R. Key officiating. Interment was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Van Maanen was born August 10, 1924, in rural Hull, the daughter of Peter & Jennie (Van Pykeren) Vander Schaaf. She was raised at Hull, where she attended the Christian School and Western Christian High School. She married Tom Van Maanen on February 7, 1945. They farmed north of Hull, where she was a homemaker. They retired and moved to Hull in 1982.

She was a member of Protestant Reformed Church. She enjoyed doing handwork, especially crocheting and doing jig-saw puzzles.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Jane & Ronald Boote of Hull and Mary & Rallyn Wichers of Orange City; five grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Dowie & Delia Vander Schaaf of Hudsonville, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and two sisters, Jeanette Vander Schaaf and Margaret Van Engen and her husband Fred.
