Walter M. Struck, 83, of rural Ireton, IA, died suddenly on Monday, March 16, 1998, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Friday morning, March 20, 1998, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton, the Reverend Loren Vogler officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, with a Prayer Service at 7: 30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.

Walter Martin Struck was born September 3, 1914, at Ireton the second of three sons born to Cort and Rebecca (Zimmerman) Struck. He graduated from Fairmont High School in Fairmont, MN, in 1931. Walter worked at the Fairmont Railway Motors, and the Naval Gun Factory at Arlington, VA, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946. He married Mildred Vlotho on September 7, 1947 at Ireton. They farmed north of Ireton. Mildred died May 25, 1990.

Walter is survived by a son, Dennis and his wife Dena, and two grandchildren, Ryan and Allison, all of Ireton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Elmer and Aaron.
