Gerrit "Gary" Van Kley, 66, of rural Doon died Friday, November 3, 1989, in a hospital in Rock Valley after a long illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 6 in Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Peter Van Drunen and the Rev. Tom Vanden Bosch officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley under the direction of Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Kley was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Rock Valley where he attended high school. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. On Dec. 6, 1946, he married Kathryn Vis in Rock Valley. The couple farmed near Rock Valley until 1963 when they moved to a farm near Doon.

Mr. Van Kley was a member of Christian Reformed Church of Doon.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Arlo of Rock Valley and Wendall of Selby, SD; two daughters, Mrs. Everret (Hedy) Van Maanen of Doon and Mrs. Paul (Shaun) Faris of Harrisburg, SD; a brother, Fred of Rock Valley; four sisters, Pearl Zomermaand of Rock Valley, Martha Veltkamp of Holland, Minn.; Mrs. Arend (Joyce) Van Otterloo of Hull and Mrs. Jake (Carolyn) Elgersma of Sheldon, and 12 grandchildren.
