Sioux Center News, September 30, 1965

Funeral services were held at Central Reformed Church here at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday for Mrs. Art Van Kley, 83, life-long resident of Sioux Center community, who passed away at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Saturday.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Marion Klaaren and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Van Kley, nee Carrie Franken, was born in Sioux Center January 5, 1882, and grew to womanhood here. She was married to Art Van Kley on August 23, 1906, and to this union four daughters were born, three of whom survive her.

Survivors include her husband of Sioux Center, the three daughters, Nelva (Mrs. Dick E. Vander Berg) of Sioux Center, Ellen (Mrs. Claude Vander Stoep) of Lynden, Wash., and Florence (Mrs. John F. Vander Ploeg) of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One daughter, Jeanette (Mrs. James DeRuyter) preceded her in death.

Pall bearers were Dick E. Vander Berg, James DeRuyter; John F. Vander Ploeg, Milton Vander Berg, Eldon Vander Berg, James A. DeRuyter.
