Hawarden Independent (29 Apr 1926)

Thomas H. Dunham passed away about 3 o’ clock Saturday morning at his home in Union county, four or five miles southwest of Hawarden. His death followed an illness of three or four year’s duration and during the past three or four months he had been bedfast most of the time. The remains were taken to Elk Point Monday where funeral services were held that afternoon at the congregational church. Rev. Brown officiating. Interment was made at Mt. Hope cemetery a few miles southwest of Chatsworth, where his father and mother are buried.

Thomas Harlock Dunham was a son of Frank II, and Alice (Miller) Dunham. He was born near Elk Point, SD., and March 20, 1889, so had only reached the age of 37 years 1 month and 4 days. With the exception of about four years when he lived with his parents on a farm a few miles west of Chatsworth, almost his entire life was spent in the vicinity of Elk Point. He moved with his family last October into a farm southwest of Hawarden where he has since resided.

He is survived by his wife, three small daughters and five stepchildren. One of the stepsons has reached manhood and will assist his mother in operating the farm. He is also survived by three brothers Lee and Frank of Elk Point and Chas. Dunham of Akron. Sincere sympathy goes out to the widow and large family of fatherless children
