Mae Vander Wilt
Mrs. Mae Vander Wilt, 81, of Hospers passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 1988 at a hospital in Sioux City.
Services were held on Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Hospers Christian Reformed
Church with the Rev. J. Mark Beach officiating.
Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Mrs. Vander Wilt was born on April 11, 1907 at Artesian, South Dakota, the daughter of William
Kastein and Minnie (Vos) Kastein. On Dec. 18, 1929 she married Arnold J. Vander Wilt at
Hospers. They farmed at Hospers, moving into town in 1976. Mr. Vander Wilt passed away Sept.
27, 1979 at Fergus Falls, Minnesota.. In 1987, Mrs. Vander Wilt became a resident of
the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. She was a member of the Hospers Christian
Reformed Church and an associate member of the Priscilla Society.
Survivors include her three sons, John W. and Myron J., both of Hospers; and Arlin J. of Arthur
City, Texas; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Langstraat
of Sioux Center; and a brother, Peter Kastein of Rock Rapids.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerhard Kastein.
