Esther Schoep
HOSPERS, Iowa - Mrs. Esther, Schoep, 89, of Orange City and formerly of Hospers, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1992, at the Orange City Hospital Nursing Wing. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Reformed Church of Hospers with the Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiating. Burial will be 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Arrangements: Vander Ploeg Funeral Chapel in Hospers.
Mrs. Schoep was born March 5, 1903, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Simon and Jessie (Van Burkum) Beernink. On March 24, 1924, she married G. Neal Schoep at Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Carmel and Sioux Center and moved to Hospers in 1944. In June 1989 they moved to the Orange City Hospital Nursing Wing. He died Dec. 30, 1989.
Mrs. Schoep was a member of the Hospers First Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school. She .served as the Girls League leader and was a member of the Esther Society.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Mildred and Howard Van Oort of Ireton and Phyllis and Lee Heiliger of Sheldon; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Douwe (Grace) Vander Berg of Sioux Center and Mrs. G.J. (Ella) Vanden Berg of Roswell, Ga.
She was preceded in death by a son Harold: a brother: and a sister.
