Fred Langstraat, 66 of Hull died Wednesday, January 8, in a Sioux Center hospital after a long illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 11, in the First Reformed Church of Hull. The Rev. Gerald Vander Velde and the Rev. Paul Wissink officiated. Burial was in Hope Cemetery. Family visitation was in the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Mr. Langstraat was born March 11, 1919, at rural Rock Valley and attended Carmel Grade School. He married Alice Klein March 13, 1941, rural Orange City. They farmed near Sioux Center and Pipestone, Minnesota, later moved to Hull where he worked for 10 years for Kooiker Manufacturing and Sudenga Manufacturing in George. He retired in 1981. Mr. Langstraat was a member of the First Reformed Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Wilmer of George; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Haack of Colfax; a brother, William of Rock Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Marion (Nelvina) Vander Pol of Sioux Center, Mrs. Paul (Edna) Schelling of Boyden and Mrs. Ken (Henrietta) Farmer of Brunsville, and four grandchildren.
