The funeral of Mrs. Geo. Duncan, who passed away in a hospital at Flandreau, SD at 4 o’clock last Thursday morning following a brief illness from pneumonia and complications, was held Sunday afternoon. Brief services were held at the Duncan farm home near Flandreau, followed by services at the Methodist church in Flandreau, Interment was made in the cemetery at that place. The funeral was very largely attended, attesting to the esteem in which Mrs. Duncan was held in the community where she has resided for the past seven years.

Ella Mae Emmert, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Emmert of Hawarden was born on a farm near Hudson, SD., May 20, 1902 and died at Flandreau, SD., on Feb 13 1930 at the age of 27 years, 8 months and 23 days. She moved to Hawarden with her parents when a small girl and attended the Hawarden school, graduating from the local high school with the class of 1920. Following her graduation she attended the summer session of the University of South Dakota and then entered the teaching profession. She taught for one year near Sioux Falls and for seven years in the vicinity of Egan and Flandreau. On Nov 29, 1923, she was united in marriage with George Duncan in Hawarden, but continued her teaching work for five years after her marriage. She united with the Methodist church at Egan, SD., later transferring her membership to Flandreau. Beside her husband and parents, she is survived by two brothers, Edison Emmert of Detroit, Mich., and Perry Emmert of Hawarden, One brother, Elmer died Sept 29, 1918, while serving in the army at Camp Dix, NJ., She also leaves a host of old friends and schoolmates in Hawarden who learned of her death with sincere regret.
