It pleased our Heavenly Father to call home unto Himself a dearly beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Susan Callie Ellerbroek , on the evening of July 30th at the age of 50 years, 9 months and 13 days.

Susan Callie Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thomas was born in Cuba City, Wis. Oct. 17 1880. Four years later she moved with her parents to Sioux county onto a farm near Ireton where she attended the Ireton public school. When as small child her church life was important. She attended the Methodist church until later in life when she joined the Congregational church of Sibley, of which she was a member at the time of her death. Oct. 17, 1898, she was united in marriage With Peter J. Ellerbroek of Ocheydan. The first year of her wedded life was spent there and later she moved to Sibley but for the past nineteen years she had made her home at Little Rock, Iowa, One daughter was born of this union, Lorena Emma, who now reside on a farm near Adrian, Minn. Mrs. Ellerbroek was a home lover, her home meant more than just four walls. She radiated sunshine with her presence and very few outside activities drew her attention except that she liked Aid Society work and Auxiliary. On May 24 1931, she was taken to the McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls where she received treatment for three weeks. She was very cheerful and so hopeful that all felt she should go to Rochester which she did June 26th . She received all that medical care could give and sad was the day when the doctors said to take her home and make her as comfortable as possible as her earthly life was soon to end. She was brought to her home of her sister Mrs. C.B. Houlton near Ireton, where she remained for several days. Her sister gave her all the devotion and care that loving hands could administer. Mrs. W.J. Johnston was secured to care for her and was taken to her home at Little Rock and all that a loving husband, daughter, sister, brothers and friend could give her was given but she failed each day until she passed away calmly and peacefully last Thursday evening.

Our loss is great, sorrow fills our hearts but we hope one day to meet where all suffering and even death will be abolished and only peace and internal life will reign. This is a source of comfort to us in our bereavement. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Will Lonneman of Adrian , Minn., her mother and stepfather , Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Nelson of Missouri Valley, Iowa , one sister Mrs. C.B. Houlton of Ireton and two brothers Dr. W.J. Thomas of Lorimar, Iowa and A.J. Thomas of Le Mars. She also leaves other relatives and a host of friends, Her father and two sisters preceded her in death many years ago.

Funeral services were held from the home at Little Rock at1:30 Sunday afternoon in charge of the pastor of the Congregational church at Sibley. Burial was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton with Rev. C.W. Tompkins, pastor of the local Methodist church
