Frank McGuire, 70, a Hawarden resident most of his life died last Friday morning following a long illness. He was a sufferer of a heart ailment for almost three years.

Mr. McGuire served as mail carrier on a rural route of Hawarden, retiring after 34 years of continuous service. He was a member of the city council at one time. He took an active part in fraternal orders in Hawarden, being a charter member of the Woodman of the World lodge and also a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs.

Frank Roy McGuire, son of William & Mary McGuire, was born January 24, 1879 in Union County. He lived in Hawarden all his life, with the exception of one year in North Dakota and four years at Beresford. He married Josie Cornish, June 10, 1908.

Survivors are his widow; two children, Lloyd L. of Hawarden, and Mildred of Berkely, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. John Law of Long Beach, Calif., and Myrtle of Cherokee, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral home at 1:30 and at 2 o'clock at the Associated Church, Tuesday afternoon. Rev. B. Roy Brown of the Methodist church officiated. Miss Ruth Harris, with Mrs. Claus Lage as accompanist, sang "Going Down the Valley" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Members of the Odd Fellows lodge attended the service in a body.
