Hawarden Independent, August 8, 1946

Mrs. Floribel Green Lewis of Park City, Utah, a former Hawarden resident, and a sister of Mrs. Gay Millard of Hawarden, passed away on Monday, July 22. Her death was the result of an operation.

Funeral services were held in the Community church at Park City on Friday, July 29, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Salt Lake City, Utah.

Floribel Green, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Warren Green, was born in Sioux City October 3, 1896. When six years of age, she came to Hawarden with her parents and lived here until 1909. Following the death of her parents, she went to Mitchell, SD to live in the home of her uncle, W. H. Gilfillian. She was a graduate of Dakota Weslyn University at Mitchell and later she taught school at Spearfish and Ethan, SD. In 1941 she went to Ogden, Utah, and for the past four years she taught school at Park City. She finished her work for her master's degree this summer at the University of Utah at Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by a daughter Alice and two sons, Lloyd W. Lewis, and Sgt. Walter L. Lewis, who were killed in action in Germany.

Survivors are her daughter-in-law Norma Jean Lewis, and two grandchildren, Janet & Roger Lewis, of Mitchell; three sisters, Mrs. Millard of Hawarden; Mrs. Oscar Howe of Custer, SD and Mrs. Winnie Jeffers of Washington, D.C. and one brother, Lawrence Green of Balaton, Minn.
