Hawarden Independent, March 9, 1922

E. H. Dannenbring, for many years a resident of this vicinity, died Wednesday afternoon in a hospital at Sioux Falls following an operation for adhesion's. He was taken to the hospital about two weeks ago but his strength was not sufficient to withstand the shock of the operation. The remains will be brought to the old farm home, six miles northwest of this city, where brief funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon after which services will be conducted in the Congregational church at Alcester, with Rev. Wakefield officiating.

The deceased was born in Germany, September 10 1863, so had attained the age of 58 years, 5 months and 28 days. He came to the United States when 16 years of age. After his marriage some thirty years ago, he moved to this vicinity, locating on a farm six miles northwest of Hawarden about 1894. He continued to reside there until eight or nine years ago when he moved to Montrose, SD where he had purchased another farm. Later he moved to Sioux Falls but returned to the old home farm here last fall. Besides the sorrowing wife he is survived by seven sons and one daughter, Will, Hugh, Mrs. Ray Garrett and Ernest Dannenbring of Montrose, SD, Elmer Dannenbring of Ireton, and Edward, Gerald and Maurice Dannenbring of Hawarden.
