Mulder C. Henry 1925-2002

Henry C. Mulder , 76, died last Friday in his home in Rock Rapids. Funeral service took place on Tuesday at the Reformed Church of Rock Rapids with the Rev. Dan Haggar officiating. Burial took place at Memory Garden Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Henry C. Mulder was born on October 17, 1925 at Labanon to Charles D. and Maggie (Toering) Mulder. He grew up on the family farm near Alton and worked for several years on the neighbor’s farm. On December 12, 1947, he married Garlene De Boom in Sioux Center. They lived near Sioux Center where he was employed for another farmer for six years until they began farming on their own. In 1956. They moved to a farm near Rock Rapids, where they continued to build their farming operation. He enjoyed farming until they retired to their present home in Rock Rapids in 1988.

He was an active member of the First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids, where he served as a deacon and elder. He also served on the Farm Bureau, Allison Township, and ASCS boards, as well as being a Crow’s Seed Corn Dealer for 35 years.

In 1991, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which was controlled successfully with treatment. However other medical concerns kept him from totally regaining his health. Three years ago, his cancer returned and despite other treatments, he was called to his heavenly home on July 12, 2002.

Survivors include his wife of Rock Rapids; two daughters and four sons; Cheryl and Leroy Hackrott of Sioux Falls; Duane and Helen Mulder of Sioux Center; Dennis and Holly Mulder of Steen, Minnesota; James Mulder of St. Joseph, Missouri; Linda Meyer of Stewartville, Minnesota; Gary and Robyn Mulder of Holland, Michigan; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grand children; one sister, Tillie Vanden Brink of Sioux Center; and one brother, Harry Mulder of Sioux Center
