August Shroeder, living three miles east of Doon and who formerly resided a mile south of Rock Valley, committed suicide early Saturday morning by hanging himself in his barn. No cause can be assigned for the deed. The funeral was held Monday under the auspices of the I. O. O. F., he being a member of the Rock Valley lodge.
(From a family record on ancestry.com it stated that he was murdered by a hired hand???? August Schroeder born 1858 in Germany to John Schroeder and Catherine Schultz. He died Jun 30, 1900 His wife Dora Schultz was born1872. They had at least three children – Walter 1885, August 1891 and Libie 1894. )
