Mrs. A. W. Lind, a long time resident of this community, passed away at her home northwest of Hawarden at midnight Monday, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Lind submitted to an operation a few years ago but she never fully recovered from it and for the past months she was bedfast and it was known that her condition was serious.

Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev. B. L. Carlton, pastor of the Big Springs Baptist Church in charge. Interment will be made in the Alcester cemetery.

Mrs. Lind had attained the age of 68 years at the time of her death. She came to Union county many years ago and for a long time they lived on a farm northwest of Hawarden. A number of years ago, Mr. & Mrs. Lind retired and moved to Alcester where they made their home for several years but later they purchased a farm just west of the old home place where she has lived for some years past. Mrs. Lind was of the sturdy pioneer type and went through many hardships of the early life in a new country. Her interests were in her home and in the rearing of her family. She found no task too great to undertake for the welfare of her loved ones and her husband has lost a faithful companion and the children have lost their best friend. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Miss Anna Lind at home and Mrs. Hugh Wohlenburg of Sioux Falls, and three sons, Henry, Arthur and Paul of this vicinity.
