Mrs. K. Groot, who lived five miles northwest of Orange City, died Saturday afternoon at 5:30, in her forty-eighth year. She was a Christian woman and kind mother, and leaves nine children, one son and eight daughters to mourn her departure. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Christian Reformed church, of which she was a devout member. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved children.

Wednesday the remains of K. Groot were placed in the silent tomb. Neighbors H. Huisman and K. Groot died same week, both were respected in the community, and will be sorrowfully missed by those left to mourn their departure.
(Found that this was Klaas Groot b. 4 Oct 1841 at Andijk NH Neth. married Trijntje Brouwer b. 1843 at Andijk on 21 Apr 1864 at Andijk.
His parents were Pieter Groot and Trijntje Tensen, her parents were Pieter Brouwer and Hiltje Blokker, from www.genlias.nl.
Fron the information gathered on ancestry.com and the obit of son Jacob there were nine children born to them, those identified were - Hiltje Mrs. Wm. Huisman 1871, Mary Mrs. Henry Haarsma 1874-1973, Nellie 1879, Jacob 1881-1938, Marie Mrs. Jake Mantel 1883, Anna Mrs. Arie Jonker 1884, Grietje abt 1887. )
From an ancestry.com account the children were – Elizabeth 1865, Dorothy 1867, Jacob 1869, Hiltje 1872, Tryntje 1873, Marittje 1874, Grietje 1877, Neeltje 1879, Jacob 1881.)
