John Gunther, living five miles north-west morning; he had been sick with a complication of diseases for several months. The funeral was held Saturday morning from the Catholic church, under the auspices of the Catholic Foresters.

Died Thursday September 8, 1900 at his home northwest of Rock Valley, John. Gunter aged 30 years 6 months and 15 days.
Mr. Gunter was born in Elkader, Clayton county IA and came to Sioux county in 1889 where he has resided ever since and has become recognized as a leading young farmer and a most worth citizen. He was married in February 1898 to Miss Celia Crowley, of Inwood and one child blessed their union eleven months ago.
He was a prominent member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and that society had charge of his funeral which was held Saturday Rev. Father Phelan preached the sermon. The funeral was largely attended. John Gunter was loved by all and the bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all.
