Mrs. Mary Rowe, commonly known to her friends as "Grandma" died at home of .her son, J. H. Rowe, last Tues day morning after a prolonged illness.
She was 87 years old, and; had made her home with her son the past 12 years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev.- Wassar,- at the home yesterday morning, and interment was made in the cemetery at Hull,. Mary Crawford was born in Ireland, August 18, 1825, and died at Sheldon, Iowa, December 10, 1912, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 23 days. She came to Canada with her parents when 14 years of age. She was married to John Rowe in the year of:l845, who preceded her to the home beyond in the year 1900 To this union were born eleven children of these four passed away in childhood the remaining seven reaching their maturity J H. oldest son Thomas, died in 1908. the second son John passed away two years after Those surviving the deceased mother are: William Rowe of Toronto. Canada Samuel Rowe of 'Fergus, ' Canada, Henry Rowe of Sheldon, Iowa ,with whom the deceased has had her home since the death of the husband and father 12 years before also two daughters Mrs. Mary Durfee of Michigan and Mrs. H, of Colo. Iowa, besides 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren are left to mourn her loss. Deceased 'was a faithful member, of the Methodist Episcopel church since her girlhood, always attending at all times the church services and assisting in various departments until old age came and health failed her. Never at any time was she known to have spoken a harsh word to any of her children, who in return loved and obeyed her. She was always of a kind an loving disposition and during the 19 weeks of her last and painful illness, she was never heard to murmur or complain. She was heard to remark that it would be well with her, such as her faith and confidence in her God, whom whe worshipped so many years of her natural life. From the Sheldon Mail.
