Hawarden Independent, June 11, 1936

George Glen Davis, 57, well known former Ireton resident, died at his home in Sioux City Saturday following an illness of three months from dropsy and complications. Funeral services were held in the Rutledge Chapel in Sioux City, Rev. G. A. Matthaides of the Concordia Lutheran Church officiating. His remains were brought to LeMars for burial.

George Glen Davis was born near Lawton, Iowa, July 23, 1878. When a lad his parents moved to Superior, Neb., and later they came to Ireton, being among the early settlers here. He was a painter and decorator. When a young man in Ireton he married Miss Grace Mosher and they made their home in LeMars for many years. When he lived in LeMars he operated a restaurant. After the death of his wife, Mr. Davis moved to Sioux City and was later married to Mrs. Susan Ebela, who survives him. He also leaves three sons, Arthur, Sherman and Darwin of Sioux City. He is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Alvin White, Ireton; Mrs. Stacy Putnam, Dickens, IA; Mrs. Roy Walters, Spencer, IA; Mrs. W. H. Lockhard and Mrs. W. R. Garr, LeMars; and one brother, Frank Davis of LeMars.
