SOLBACH, ARENS, KUGELMEIER

Paul Solbach, son of Wilhelm and Maria Kugelmeier Solbach, was born September 5, 1898 in Eckenhagen, Germany and died Tuesday, July 13, 1976 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Mr. Solbach was raised in Germany and came to the United States in 1927, settling in Defiance, Iowa, where he opened a meat market. Before coming to the United States he was united in marriage in 1927 to Hildegard Arens. In 1934 they moved to Denison where Mr. Solbach operated the City Market until 1967, at which time he retired. He has been in failing health for the past year and a half.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Otto Wilhelm and Albert, and two sisters, Mary and Lucy.

Survivors include his wife, Hildegard, one daughter, Lieselotte (Mrs. Jerald Streit) of Hawarden, Iowa, one son, Rolf of Algona, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; three sisters, Anna Schweinsmann, Agnes and Rosa Uelner, all of Germany, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 15, 1976 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Lloyd White officiating. Pall bearers were Urban Neppl, Ronald Munson, Ralph Marten, Vernon Schroeder, Fred H. Schroeder and Clarence Zitzlsperger. Honorary pall bearers were Clem Ullrich, Rudolph Schwitzer, Walter Denker, Rudolph Stender, John J. Murphy and James Anderson. Interment was made in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery with Huebner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
