Last Thursday evening Mr. P. .J. De Groot died suddenly at his home in this city. Wednesday he suffered from a light stroke of apoplexy and his condition was not thought serious at that time and the end came suddenly on Thursday as he was resting on a couch Peter J. De. Groot was born in 1833 in NieuwFriesland, Netherlands, and was married in 1857 to Aaltje Terpstra at Dokkum Westdongeradeel Friesland in the .Netherlands. Mrs. De Groot died in 1882, That same year Mr. De Groot emigrated to this country and settled on a farm about tbree niles north of this city where he lived until about five.years ago when he moved to town. Six children survive to mourn his loss: Mrs. J. Wiersma, Sjoerd Johannes, Douwe, Pier and Emelina The funeral was held Monday after noon at the First Reformed church of this city.
(He was born 25 Feb 1834 to Johannes Piers deGroot and Saakje Douwes Bosch. Wife was Aaltje Sjoerds Terpstra married 14 May 1857 at Westdongeradeel Friesland Netherlands. She died 1882. Children born to them in the Neth. were Sjoerd, Sieuwke, Johannes, Douwe, Johanna 1868, and Ebeltje.)
