Genevieve Julia McMillan, 75, of Hawarden died on Wednesday, March 10,1999 at a Sioux City hospital. Services were Saturday at Associated Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Laird Keever officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. McMillan was born on July 8, 1923, in Hawarden, the daughter of William and Jessie (Jager) McPherson. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1941. She then taught country
school. She married Elmer McMillan on June 8, 1943, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple farmed in the Alcester, South Dakota, and Hawarden area, until moving into Hawarden in 1959. She was
employed as an Avon representative for 15 years. She was a member of Associated Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting and drawing.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Dennis and his wife, Sandy; Ken and his wife,
Sandy; and Ed and Karma, all of Akron; and Kelvin and his wife, Jan, of Hawarden; and a daughter and her husband, Lorna and Don Cross of Omaha, Nebraska. Other survivors are 13 grandchildren, Todd, Kory, Phil, Randy and Julie McMillan, Shandra Dieterman, Kim Heyl, Kerrie Olson, Heather McCormick, Carol Castle, Cassandra Adams, and Stephanie and Chantelle Cross; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers and their wives, James and Jeanette McPherson, Milo and Darlene McPherson, Raymond and Barbara McPherson and Bruce and Darlene McPherson, all of Hawarden, and Fredrick and Sharon McPherson of Fort Dodge, a sister and her husband, (Alma and Pierce DeJong) of Remsen; and a sister- in-law, Vivian McPherson of Hawarden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Harvey; a brother, Don McPherson;
and daughter-in-law, Gail McMillan.
