ALCESTER, S.D. — Lawrence "Honk" Liston, 61, of Alcester died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 4, 1996, near Westfield, Iowa, of an apparent heart attack. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at
the Associated Church in Hawarden, Iowa, with the Rev. Randy Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation will be Monday at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Mr. Liston was born June 4, 1935, in Hawarden, the son of Orlen and Tena (Jager) Liston. He attended Hawarden High School and served in the United States Army in Germany. He married Dianna Tilstra on Jan. 20, 1961, in Luverne, Minn. Mr. Liston worked in construction most of his life. The couple resided in Hawarden most of the time, but also lived in Chicago, 111., Wyoming, Texas and Florida, due to his construction work. Mr. Liston was a member of the Associated Church in Hawarden, and a past member of the Hawarden Sportsman Club and Fire Department. He enjoyed football, softball, bowling and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Dan and Ramona of McCook Lake, and Kevin and Holly of Larchwood, Iowa; three daughters, Laurie Tentinger of Larchwood, Brenda Bultman of Sioux City, and Angie and her husband Kelly Sward of Dell Rapids, S.D.; Tena Liston of Alcester, who was raised as his daughter; 11 grandchildren, Crisena, Tony, Austin, Stacy, Ben, Tara, Tyler, Christopher, Hillary, Alexis and Brittany,; seven brothers, Lee of Hawarden, Lloyd of Ireton, Iowa, Daryl of Sherburn, Minn., Wesley of Lovilia, Iowa, Norman of St. Paul, Minn., James of Kennedale, Texas, and Dick of Hawarden;{five sisters), Myra Heuer
of Rock Valley, Iowa, Neva Busch of Hawarden, Betty Gronemeyer of Arnolds Park, Iowa, and Darlene Rummel and Cindy McKee, both of Hawarden.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Duane, Roger and Howard and a sister, Vivian Finch.
