Harvey De Raad, 75, of Sioux Center died Saturday, May 27, i n Rock Valley . Services were at Peace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, with the Rev. Henry Flessner officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
De Raad was born on April 12, 1920, in Ireton, the son of Henry and Nellie (Popma) De Raad. He married Eva Calhoon on May 3, 1939, i n Le Mars. They farmed in the Ireton and Hudson, South Dakota, area. He worked for many years at Harvard Industries in Rock Valley, retiring in 1983. Mrs. De Raad died on February 14. 1993. He enjoyed baseball and pitched several semi-pro teams i n the area.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudia (Mrs. Don) Winterfeld and Connie (Mrs. Ron) Hulshof, both of Sioux Center; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leonard of Sioux Center and Lester of Victorville, California. He was also preceded i n death by two granddaughters, Cathi Winterfeld and Kimberly Hulshof; two brothers, Frank and Art; and two sisters, Margaret and Francis Miller.
