On July 10 the child of Henry C. Sohl living two miles west of Matlock while playing with his dog which up to that time had always been considered safe for the child to play with, was bitten in the face by the dog which suddenly exhibited an ugly temper. Mr. Sohl promplty killed the dog and placed the child in the care of a doctor. The bite_____not readable______ it was thought the danger was past but last thursday about noon the child commenced having mad convulsions from the effects of the dog bite and after four or five hours of horrible suffering the child died, although every thing possible was done to obtain relief.
(So. Co. Cem. Index lists Peter Sohl 1899-1901 buried St. John's cemetery Boyden IA. His parents were Henry C. Sohl born abt 1858 Germany and Ersteina Schutt daughter of Klaus Schutt and Eliza Wormke. In the 1900 census the other children were claus 10, Lizzie 7, Emma 5 and Peter was 6 mo. )
