Gerrit Lyzen, 88, of Hull died Tuesday, May 2, of cancer. The body was cremated.

Lyzen was born April 12, 1912, in Alton, the son of Albert & Alice (Van Engen) Lyzen. He attended school in Floyd Township. He married Driessa Ver Beek on April 15, 1937, in Alvord. She died in 1982. He later married Alma Beyer from Hull. The couple made their home in Hull. He had farmed the family farm.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Linda & Ward Andrews of Alton; two stepsons, Karl Beyer and his special friend, Kay; and Alan Beyer and his wife, Jill, all of Hull; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Goodlaxson and Dena Lyzen.
