Sioux County Capital, July 29, 1983

Mrs. William (Bertha) Verschoor, 78, 2914 Leech, Sioux City, died Friday at the Marian Health Center following a short illness.

Services were at 11:30 a.m., Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sioux City, with Monsignor Frank J. Brady, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Memorial will go for Catholic education.

Bertha K. Verschoor, the former Bertha Vonderhaar, was born on April 29, 1905 in Granville and graduated from Granville St. Joseph School. She married William Verschoor on Feb. 3, 1924 in Granville. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1927. Mrs. Verschoor was a homemaker and housewife.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, William and James of Lawton and Richard and Michael, both of Sioux City; three daughters: Mrs. Gerald (Bertha) Ebel, Mrs. Donald (Judy) Karrer and Miss Joan Verschoor, all of Sioux City; a brother, Ed Vonderharr of Granville; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Verschoor and Mrs. Caroline Boersma both of Sioux City, Mrs. Elizabeth Forman of Sheldon and Mrs. Mary (Peg) Beck of Granville; 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
