Sioux Center News, July 4, 1957

Funeral services were held in the Orange City American Reformed Church Saturday afternoon for Sylvester McGloghlon, 20, of Orange City.

Rev. C. Muyskens officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Orange City cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. McGloghlon died Thursday in a Sheldon hospital, after suffering burns and injuries Wednesday when a ready-mix cement truck he was driving upset in a Highway 33 ditch between Hospers and Sheldon following a tire blowout. The truck caught fire and McGloughlon was severely burned before passing motorists pulled him from the flaming cab.

He was a star football center while attending Orange City High School. He returned this spring after service in the navy and was at present living with his young bride in a trailer in Orange City. He was employed by a ready-mix cement plant.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Esther McGloghlon, Orange City, three brothers and two sisters.
