Mrs. Geo. Henkel died last week Thursday after an illness of four months. The attendance at the funeral, held Saturday from the Catholic church, was very large. She leaves behind her husband with seven children.
(1900 census of Floyd Tsp, Sioux county lists George Henkel born Aug 1863 IL, wife Catharine born Feb 1871 IL, married 1893 with children – Mary 13, Gertie 11, Maggie 6, Lizzie 5, Leo 3 and Antonie 1.
From an ancestry.com report on the family George was first married to Abbie Spohn 1869-1892 and had four children, then married Catherine Haub born 1871 and had four more children, Margaret 1893, Elizabeth 1894, Rev. Leo 1896 and Anthony 1898. )
