Mrs. Van Zaane died last Friday after a short illness. We are informed that chronic heart trouble together with dropsy was the cause of her death. The funeral was held Monday. She was a widow and leaves two sons and three daughters.

H. (Actually J.) Van Zaane died sunday morning. All regret to hear of his sad demise. He was buried in the cemetery east of town Tuesday.
(After much research, it was determined that this was not H. Van Zaane but his father Jan Van Zaane. Who died about Aug 26, 1896. No stone marks the spot in the Presby. Cemetery east of Hospers.
The family of Van Zaane in 1900 lived in Floyd Tsp. Sioux County, consisting of Gertie 45 widow bon June 1854 Neth., son Huibert 25 born Dec 1874 Netherlands, Lizzie 23 b. Aug 1876 Neth., Gertie 12 b. Jul 1887 Neth., Willie age 16 b. Dec 1883 and Jennie 4 born Jul 1896. Gertie Jonges Van Zaane was the mother of 11 children and five were living at the time.
Jan and Grietje Van Saane came to the USA 11 Aug 1890 embarking from Rotterdam heading for Philadelphia.
