Mrs. Art Visser, 53, well known in Hull, passed away suddenly at her home in George, Iowa, on Friday afternoon, March 23, following a long illness. Mrs. Visser, although up and around the house most of the time, had been in poor health for the past several years. A sudden relapse and hemorrhage caused her death. Mr. and Mrs. Visser had recently returned from a several weeks visit in Florida.
Funeral services were held from the Visser home and from the Ebenezer Presbyterian church in George on Monday afternoon with Rev. L. Furda officiating. Pallbearers were: Jack Faber, Merrit Oelrich, Dean Jantzen, Weldon Peters, Louie Heeren and Bert Klaahsen. Interment was made in the Evergreen Cemetery at George. Funeral services were arranged by the Vogelaar Funeral Service.
Mrs. Arthur Visser was born on a farm north of Hull on July 9, 1902, and died on March 23, 1956, at the age of 53 years, 9 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of Eugene Graham and Minnie Funck Graham, who both preceded her in death, her father in 1948 and her mother in 1936.
Jennie was united in marriage to Arthur Visser on the 18th of February, 1928, and to them was born one son, David. They lived in the Orange City and Hull communities until about twelve years ago, when they moved to George, Iowa. For the first seven years in George, Mrs. Visser worked with her husband in the store, but since that time has been failing in health.
Before their arrival in George, Mr. and Mrs. Visser were members of the American Reformed church of Orange City, but were later transferred to the membership of the Ebenezer Presbyterian church of George. Mrs. Visser was a charter member of the Ladies Aid of the Zion Lutheran church of Hull, and was also a member of the Ladies Aid and Missionary Society of the Ebenezer church until this past year.
Mrs. Visser is survived by her husband, one son David, and his wife Norma and two grandchildren, Vicki Lynn and Dee Ann Visser. She is also survived by four sisters and three brothers: Marie (Mrs. Oelrich) of Pipestone, Minn.; Ethel (Mrs. Sullivan) of Pipestone, Minnesota; Helen (Mrs. Rudloff) of Newton, Iowa; Vera (Mrs. Cain) of Hawarden, Iowa; Art Graham of Hull, Iowa; Frank Graham of Doon, Iowa; and Ervin Graham of California. One brother, Harry, preceded her in death on November 11, 1940.
