Ralph A. Visser, 83, of Rock Valley, died Monday, February 8, 1988 in a nursing home in Rock Valley.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11 in the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with the Rev. Robert Timmer officiating. Additional services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 in the Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, Wash., with the Rev. Gerrit Sheeres officiating. Burial was in Monumento Cemetery in Lynden. Visitation was held at the funeral home.
Mr. Visser was born Jan. 26, 1905, in Friesland, The Netherlands. He moved to Edmonton, Canada in 1913 and to the United States in 1921. He married Olive DeJong Nov. 25, 1948, in Grand Rapids, Mich. The couple farmed near Everson, Wash., until 1969 when they retired and moved to Lynden. In April 1987 they moved to Rock Valley.
Mr. Visser was a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and had served as a council member. He also had served on the Sumas Christian School Board.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Andy of Rock Valley; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Sharlotte) Rau of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a brother, Jelte of Lynden; a sister, Mrs. William (Susie) Westhof of Everson, and six grandchildren.
