PASSING OF JOHN VISSER

After lingering for many weeks, John Visser passed away Wednesday [July 28?] at 10:10 P.M. with apoplexy given as the cause of his death. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home and the First Christian Reformed church.

Mr. Visser was born in Andijk, the Netherlands in April 1863. He came to the United States 46 years ago, living first at Ackley. Later he moved to the Sioux Center vicinity where he farmed for many years, moving to town 13 years ago. He was married in 1892 to Miss Adrianna De Stigter. One child was born to the union, Mrs. A. H. Bratt of Roseland, Ill. Mrs. Visser lived but a few years. Mr. Visser was later married to Mrs. Anna Roos De Vries and to this union were born Peter, Thomas, Leonard, Catherine and John. Mr. Visser is also survived by six step-children, namely, Mrs. Johan Ten Harmsel, Jake De Vries, P. J. De Vries, Henry De Vries, Mrs. Henry H. Boeyink and Mrs. P. W. Brouwer. Mr. Visser was a good Christian man respected in the community and esteemed by all who knew him.
