Heart Attack Fatal For Young Middleburg Farmer

Mr. Vert Visser, 43 year old Middleburg farmer, passed away at his home early Tuesday morning [February 25] following a heart attack. He had been in good health, and had been down town the day before, but took ill at night and passed away at about two o'clock Tuesday morning.

He is survived by his wife and four sons, John, Marvin, Edwin and Bernard. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry of Manhattan, Montana and Peter of Grand Rapids, Mich., and four sisters, Mrs. Cornie De Bondt of Forrest Grove, Oregon, Mrs. Charlie Aardema of Doon, Mrs. Jim Jasper of Wood Stock, Minn. and Mrs. Gerrit Willemstyn of Everly, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, Feb. 28 at the home and at one-thirty o'clock at the Reformed Church at Middleburg. Rev. Zylstra, pastor of the Christin Reformed Church at Middleburg, will officiate.

Young Farmer Dies

Bert Visser, 43, living 10 miles north of Orange City, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at two o'clock. He had not felt well Monday evening and early Tuesday morning Dr. Bushmer was called, but Mr. Visser was dead before the doctor arrived although he made the trip in about 15 minutes. He is survived by his wife and several children. [Followed by information about the funeral.]

Bert Visser, a former Doon resident, died at his home at Middleburg on Tuesday of a heart attack. His funeral was held on Friday afternoon and he was buried at Orange City. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Visser of Manhattan, Mont., brothers[?] of the deceased, attended the funeral, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Aardema of Doon were in attendance. Mrs. Aardema is a sister. Mrs. Gerrit Willenstein, another sister, is in the hospital at Iowa City, and is very ill at this writing.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Bert Visser, born 1903, died 1947, buried in Capel Township Cemetery, Middleburg.

Estate notices in subsequent newspapers give the value of his estate as $8,219.10 with debts of $500, and his wife's name as Elizabeth. The estate consisted of $1947.10 cash, and farm equipment and livestock valued at $6272.00.
