Evert Van Maanen
October 3, 1890—July 23, 1961
Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed church in Hull at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) July 27, 1961 for Evert Van Maanen, 70, retired farmer, former Sioux Center vicinity resident and a resident of Hull for the past 14 years, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital Sunday, July 23, following a lingering illness. Services will be conducted by the Rev. J. Kortering and burial will be made in the Hope cemetery at Hull under the direction of Co-operative Funeral Service of Sioux Center. A brief service attended by members of the family will be held at the home in Hull at 1 p.m.
Mr. Van Maanen was born in The Netherlands October 3, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Van Maanen, and came to this country with his parents at the age of 1˝ years. The family lived for a time at Alton and then moved to Sioux Center vicinity where Mr. Van Maanen continued to make his home until moving to Hull about 14 years ago. He was married to Maggie Mulder
February 21, 1914, and to this union nine children were born. Mrs. Van Maanen passed
away March 10, 1953.
Survivors include the following children: Ella (Mrs. Andrew Meendering) of Ellsworth, Minn.,
Bert of Doon, Roy of Inwood, Tom of Hull, Mina (Mrs. Ted Hoekstra) of Rock Valley, Edward of Doon, Margaret (Mrs. Donald Hoekstra) of Hull; Harold of Hull, Jane (Mrs. Henry Hoksbergen) of Boyden. Other survivors include a brother, John, and six sisters, Mrs. Cornelius
Wassink, Mrs. Gerben De Jong, Mrs. Conrad Hulstein, Mrs.John Rens, Mrs. Henry Vis and
Mrs. Ben Bleyenberg, also 42 grandchildren and six great grand children.
He was a member of the Hull Protestant Reformed church.
