TONY VISSER FUNERAL HELD THURSDAY
Funeral services for Tony Visser, 67, of Hawarden were held Thursday, May 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed church in Hawarden with Rev. Kenneth Vis officiating. A family prayer service was held at the church at 1:15 p.m. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery in Hawarden under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home Service of Sioux Center. Dorinda Ver Hoeven sang "How Great Thou Art," and the congregation sang "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Peter Sinkey was the accompanist. Casket bearers were Amos Ericson, Robert Wendel, William Elgersma, Bernard Wiksen, Herman Holtkamp, and Emil Lindgren.
Mr. Visser passed away at the Hawarden Community Hospital on Monday, May 26.
He was born December 16, 1901, at Sioux Center, the son of Adrian and Jennie Visser. He lived his youth and attended school in Hawarden. He married Ruth Mieras on February 25, 1926, at Hawarden, and the couple lived their entire married life in the Hawarden vicinity. He was a member of the Christian Reformed church in Hawarden.
Survivors include hs wife, Ruth; two sons, Arthur of Gardenia, California, and Bill of Waterloo; four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Evelyn) Huenink of Hawarden, Mrs. John (Jean) Wiseman of River Vale, New Jersey, Mrs. Bernard (Helen) Nobel of Caledonia, Michigan, and Mrs. Tim (Betty) Jackes of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. John (Hattie) Ekdom of Ireton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
