Sioux Center News, March 8, 1951

Funeral services for Henry Brouwer, age 71, who died early Sunday in a Sioux Falls hospital were held Thursday afternoon, March 1 at 1:30 P.M., in First Reformed Church of Inwood with the Rev. Matt J. Duven officiating.

Death summoned Mr. Brouwer after a brief illness and hospitalization. His health had been poorly for many weeks. He entered Sioux Valley hospital on Friday night of last week.

Interment will be in Richland Cemetery with the following as pall bearers: Richard Bos, Walter Kuyper, John VanDyke, Gerrit Niemeyer, Paul Noteboom and John TerWee.

Nanna Henry Brouwer was born at Pella, Iowa on November 11, 1879. He came with his parents to Sioux County in 1890. He married on March 2, 1910 to Anna Bottger, and to this union a daughter was born.

Mr. & Mrs. Brouwer made their home on farms in Sioux County and Lyon county until retirement in 1929 when they moved to Doon. They moved in 1945 to Inwood and this was his home continuously until death.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna Bottger Brouwer in Inwood;a daugher, Mrs. Arie Beckman and one granddaughter in Inwood; two brothers, James of Ripon, California; Wiebe of Rock Valley; three sisters Mrs. Kate Eggink, Ripon; Mrs. Barbara Van Den Oever of Doon, Mrs. Rena Strand, Denver.

Mr. Brouwer was a member of First Reformed church in Inwood and he served with the consistory.
