Edward Schreur
Edward Schreur, 83, May 23, 1985 of Orange City, died Tuesday, May 14 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Edward Harold Schreur was born Dec. 22, 1901 at Alton, the son of Herman Schreur and Minnie
Kleinhesselink Schreur. On Jan. 10, 1926, he married Esther Anna Pas at Orange City.
Ed was involved in Orange City Implement, a John Deere dealership for 47 years, retiring in 1966. He was a member of the First Reformed Church where he served on the consistory as a deacon or elder for 14 years. Mr. Schreur was a member of the Orange City Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, the Orange City Election Board for 51 years, the Orange City City Council for 16 years and the Orange City Municipal Utilities Board for 16 years. He was a past president of the Iowa Association of Implement Dealers and a former member of the Orange City Lions Club and the Orange City Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David, of Ankeny; and Don of Orange City; daughter, Mrs.
Robert (Joy) Vellinga of State Center; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Pierce (Edna) De Jager of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by another sister, Mrs. Dick (Esther) Stander and a brother and sister in
infancy.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 17, at the First Reformed Church with Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
