HAWARDEN, Iowa - Eva C. Hamersma, 65, of Hawarden, died Thursday, March 4, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hawarden Ccrnmunitv Church
RCA with the Rev. David Teilinghuisen officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Sunday, with family present from 7:30 p.m. and an 8:30 p.m. prayer service at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mrs. Hamersma was bom June 28, 1927, in Maurice, Iowa, daughter of Theodore and Jeanette (Bolluyt) Schreur. She married Albert Hamersma June 23, 1945, at Fairmont, Minn. They farmed in Union County, S.D., and Sioux County, Iowa. She graduated from LPN training in 1965, and worked for over 25 years at the Mapes Nursing Home (now Hass Hillcrest Care Center). She was director of nursing there for several years. Mr. Hamersma died May 12, 1984. She was a charter member of the Hawarden Community Church and was active with the Ladies' Aid, Willing Workers and in Bible study. Survivors include her son and his wife, Allen and Barb of Hawarden; a daughter, Jean Ann Hamersma of Westfield, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Tunies and Geraldine Schreur of Alcester, S.D.; a sister and her husband, Ladene and Donald Nelson of Brewster, Minn.; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
