Hawarden Independent, June 15, 1933

Friday evening a small cortege wended its way to Pleasant Hill cemetery where short services over the ashes, all that remained of William Day, before they were given back to mother earth. Rev. C. W. Tompkins was in charge of the services. He died at his home in Tacoma, Wash., nearly two weeks ago and funeral services were held there before the cremation of the body and the ashes were shipped here where he had lived and worked for so many years. Mr. Day was a part of this community, farming when a young man in the vicinity, later entering a business career in town. His mercantile establishment was well known for its genuineness as he was most trustworthy in all his dealings. He was active in church circles and was respected by all. He left Ireton, moving to Sioux Falls more than twenty years ago, and later moved to Tacoma where he resided until death called him.
