Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock today in the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home and at 1:30 in the First Reformed church for Joe Vermeer, a former local resident, who died Tuesday in Des Moines. Rev. P. De Jong will officiate. Joe Vermeer was born July 11, 1896, and died in Des Moines at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 5 days. He had been in ill health for some time. He
was married to Agnes Vander Aarde Jan. 19, 1918, and to this union the following children
were born: Angeline, Mrs. R. M . Cox of Bellflower, Cal.; Tracy Mrs. S. W. Rhodes of Virginia;
Harold of Sioux Center; Ruth of Bellflower, Calif.; and Lloyd of Artesia, Calif., who now survive.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Jennie, Mrs. Henry De Vries; Dena, Mrs. Albert Schimmel; Henry W.; Peter of Los Angeles; John of Orange City; Theodore of Sioux Center; Henrietta, Mrs. Harold Beernink of Maurice.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jake and William, and a sister who died in infancy.
Mr. Vermeer spent most of his life around Sioux Center except for about 10 years in Des Moines.
