Albert G. Versteeg of Orange City passed away Saturday following a few weeks illness. He had been suffering from cancer of the stomach. He was 48 years old. Mr. VerSteeg has been in the postal employ for a number of years, first as a rural mail carrier and later as a deputy clerk for three years.

NOTE: Born Aalt G. Versteeg, he married Anna Van Gorp. Anna Van Gorp, had a dutch first name of Arradina, her obit is also in this web site. Her parents were: Pieter/Peter Van Gorp, and Dirkje Van Olst. Pieter Van Gorp was born in Lake Prairie Township, Pella, Marion Co., IA on Sept. 1, 1860 and he came to Orange City in the 1880's. He married Dirkje Van Olst on November 18, 1885 in Orange City, and they had 6 children.

Aalt Versteeg was born October 15, 1885 in Orange City and married Arradina (Anna) Van Olst on December 30, 1908 in Orange City. They had 2 sons Gerald Gysbert Versteeg and Paul Dale Versteeg, both of the boys moved to California and died there, as did their mother who died while visiting there. Aalt Versteeg was born to Gysbert Versteeg, and his 2nd wife Gerritje Vanden Berg (Vande Berg). Aalt had several half brothers and sisters.
