Gerrit Niemeyer, 70, died at the Doornink Hospital at eight o'clock Tuesday morning. He had been taken there Sunday evening after suffering a heart attack. Funeral services will be held today, Friday Decemeber 27, in the John W. Hofmeyer home at 1 P.m. and in the Frist Christian Reformed Church at 1:30. Dr. R. Bronkema will officiate. Inerment will be in the family lot in the local cemetery.
Mr. Niemeyer was born in the Netherlands and came to Amerida wiht his parents in 1887. When his parents moved from their farm west of town to Orange City, their children Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mellema, stayed on the farm and Gerrit lived with them for 10 years. Then he came to town and during the last four years lived with his sister, Mr and Mrs. John W. Hofmeyer.
Surviving are two brothers, Gerrit John at
Sunnyside WA, and Henry at Pella; and three sisters, Mrs. William VanderBurg at Holland MN, Mrs. Hermina Mellema and Mrs. John W. Hofmeyer of Orange City.
