Versteeg, Mrs. Albert (Anna) - 1886-1947

Sioux Center News, October 2, 1947

Word was received by relatives here Sunday evening that Mrs. Anna VerSteeg, formerly of O.C. had passed away that same evening at 7 o'clock at the home of her son, Gerald VerSteeg at Bellflower, Calif. She had suffered a heart attack while attending church services Sunday morning which caused her death that same day.

Mrs. VerSteeg, nee Anna Van Gorp, was born July 2, 1886 at O.C. Born and raised in this vicinity, she was married in 1908 to Albert Ver Steeg of O.C. and continued here. 2 sons, Gerald and Paul were born, who now reside with their families at Bellflower, Calif. Mr. VerSteeg passed away in 1933.

Surviving besides the sons are one sister, Minnie, Mrs. Hubert Van Der Meide of O.C., and four brothers, James Van Gorp of Hull, Edward and William Van Gorp of O.C. and Dick Van Gorp of Chicago. A brother, John, died in 1938. There are 7 grandchildren.

The body will arrive here for burial and funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m., in the Edward Van Gorp home, and at 2 o'clock in the American Reformed Church of O.C. of which the decedent was a member at the time of her passing with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment will be made in the O.C. cemetery.

NOTE by Transcriber: In the obit it says her husband is Albert Versteeg, it is really Aalt Versteeg, his stone has Aalt on it, but he probably went by Albert.
