J.P, Enright, an old engineer on the Northwestern line, died at his home in this city Monday afternoon after an illness of about
two weeks duration with lung fever. He was born at Pertle, Canada, Feb. 13, 1843. At the age of five years he was taken to Davenport, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. When yet a young
man he accepted a position with the Chicago & Northwestern railway company and continued in
their employ until the time of his death. He was ever faithful to his trust as-an employee and always maintained the respect and good will of his comrades and fellow men. He was married to
Miss Mattie Tucker at Toronto, Iowa, June 21, 1877,and the faithful wife survives to mourn his
death. He moved with his family to Hawarden Nov. 8, 1892, and has since been a resident of our
city, honored and respected by everyone. He leaves a wife, four sons and a daughter, besides an aged mother and a brother to mourn his loss. The Independent extends its sympathy to the
bereaved ones in their deep sorrow. Mr. aud Mrs. E. M, Tucker, of Lyons, Iowa, A. J. Tucker, of Chicago, and Mrs. J. P. Flynn, and daughter, of Monteray, Mexico, were hero to attend the funeral.
(John P. Enright died May 7, 1900 age 57 buried in St. Mary's cemetery Hawarden IA. He was married to martha Tucker b. 1853 two children were mentioned on ancestry.com Arthur geroge Enright 1879 and Miles Earl 1892-1958.)
