Obituary: Hawarden, IA—Harold William Simpson, 91, formally of Hawarden, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Groton, Connecticut. Currently, there are no services planned for Harold. Harold’s cremated remains will be buried next to his parents at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, IA.

Harold was born February 12, 1921 to John O. and Agnes (Rasmussen) Simpson in Hawarden. He attended country school for 8 years and then proceeded to farm on the family farm until 1970. In 1971, Harold married Lela Bishop. They moved around frequently before settling on an acreage southeast of Des Moines, IA. Lela died June 4, 1980. Harold then moved to Connecticut in 1985 where he resided at the Groton Community Home.

Harold is survived by his brother, Donald (Carol Ann) Simpson and nephew, John W. Simpson both of Sioux City, IA. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Mildred Buffington of Groton, Connecticut.
